HIEs and State Agencies
ApeniMED has extensive, unsurpassed experience with Health Information Technology (HIT), including Health Information Exchange (HIE) and State Agency interoperability (Medicaid, Public Health). ApeniMED ensures that your HIE or State Agency will have more than a technology solution, and that stakeholders will utilize, support and financially sustain your HIE or State Agency solution.
ApeniMED’s platform is the only truly vendor-neutral platform available, allowing for exchange of clinical and administrative data to and with any electronic health record (EHR) vendor, ePrescribing solution, laboratory information system (LIS), payor or vendor. The result is an open network, allowing for providers, patients and State Agencies to have complete freedom of choice in selecting vendors and services to be part of their HIE or HIT solution.
ApeniMED HIE and State Agency Solutions
ApeniMED is one of the nation’s foremost Health Information Exchange (HIE) vendors that leverages the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) standards as a key component of the ApeniMED Platform, allowing disparate healthcare organizations, government agencies, and health systems to have a standards-based connectivity methodology. Deployed as a hosted, SaaS-based offering, the hardened, proven ApeniMED platform utilizes standards-based technologies such as NHIN Exchange and the Direct Project (NHIN Direct) to connect disparate healthcare stakeholders and systems together for seamless data exchange. Our technology improves patient care by providing immediate access to disparate clinical and administrative data, thereby limiting duplicate data and unnecessary procedures – saving you time and money.
The ApeniMED Platform can be deployed to support the following use-cases:
- Intra HIE or State Agency connectivity, such as connecting disparate providers, payers, laboratories and other HIE stakeholders, including State Medicaid and State Public Health Agencies
- Inter HIE and State Agency connectivity, such as connecting existing HIEs or State Agencies to state or regional HIEs, other State Agencies, Federal Agencies, vendors, or other trading partners
- Agency to Agency connectivity, such as connecting a State Agency to another intra/inter State Agency, State or Regional HIE, Federal Agency, or vendor.
Patient privacy, HIPAA compliancy and military-grade security are standard in the ApeniMED Platform, including full support of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) encryption for all transmission and data storage. Additionally, the ApeniMED Platform design allows all patient data to remain stored at the client location (behind the client firewall). Therefore, there is no common or centralized data store that could be vulnerable to security threats.
The ApeniMED Privacy and Trust Manager ensures user compliance and authorization, providing data access only to users with the “right to know”, “need to know”, and “permission to know”. The Privacy and Trust Manager also provides sophisticated ‘Opt-in / Opt-out’ options for patients, giving them detailed control of access to their health information.
Meaningful Use
Meaningful Use is a critical element of your technology solution and vendor. Working with a partner who not only understands the Meaningful Use criteria, but provides the pathway to Meaningful Use compliancy is essential. ApeniMED fully understands Meaningful Use components and requirements from the Medicaid SMHP to the Stage 1-3 objectives to the required technological components. ApeniMED bridges the gap between knowledge and technology to successfully achieve and demonstrate Meaningful Use.
